Happy New Year!

Who has set themselves a New Year's resolution or have something you wish to do this year?
In the past, I have never been too good at setting myself a task for the year but this year I am determined to change this. As I don't think I have ever completed a resolution before, I have decided that, by writing what I wish to achieve by 2016 down here, open for the 7 billion+ habitants on this earth to see, I will feel more inclined to complete them. So, here are 10 things I would like to have accomplished by this very day next year...

1. Get an application for my first choice university course accepted

2. Go to a music festival
3. Pass my driving test

4.  Know all the French tenses taught at AS Level off by heart

5. Learn how to play a Taylor Swift song on the ukulele

6. Stay overnight in a city in the UK that I have never before been to

7.  Go to a nightclub (this can only be completed after 7th December 2015, obviously...)

8. Do at least 1 week's work experience

9. Visit the Harry Potter Studios

10. Go away on holiday somewhere with friends
I hope you all have a very happy New Year and I wish anyone with a plan like mine they wish to complete the best of luck!

Accomplishments.

Summer is well and truly over. In fact, it had ended over a month ago, but only in the past week have I fully accepted that the weeks of going out in just a t-shirt and shorts are finished for the year. To say that my summer was an adventure would be an understatement. Interrailing across Europe, flying out of the continent for the first time and getting a place at university... These past three months have been simply unbelievable. As I closed that Mathematics exam paper for the last time on 24th June 2016, I had little idea that my summer would be the whirlwind that it was. One week on, and I had flown to the Netherlands for the beginning of eighteen days of walking 30,000 steps a day, train journeys and simply incredible sights. Four weeks on, and I had flown to New York City for, undoubtedly, my greatest holiday. Five weeks on, and I had flown inter-continent to the Sun State of Florida. Seven weeks on, and I had received my A-Level results, which I was fortunately absolute...

Is this real life- or is this just fantasy?

Admittedly, I have never considered myself a fantasy type of person. Except for my slight obsession with Harry Potter, little of the literature I read, the films I watch and the TV series I follow falls under the fantasy genre.   Until recently, that is.   One month ago, I finally got round to watching 'The Lord of the Rings'. It took fifteen years after the first movie came out for me even to consider watching it. It's long. It's got elves in it. Why would I want to watch it?  Now, I know that there are many reasons why I would want to watch it. Full to the brim with action, the scenery is breathtaking, the antagonists are perfectly abhorrent and Orlando Bloom makes one lovable elf. Frankly, it's got everything I could wish for in a movie- with the addition of Gollum and a couple-thousand Orcs. I liked the first movie so much that, within the week, I'd watched all 10 hours of the trilogy. 'Two Towers' is now in my top 10 all-time favourite films. ...

This Could Be the Start of Something New...

Yes, that is a reference to High School Musical and, yes, I am still referencing High School Musical eight years after it came out... But, like Troy met Gabriella, I have just met someone knew: you! So, to introduce myself... Firstly, my name is Florrie. Yep, just Florrie; not Florence, not Florian (I have been called that before), just Florrie. A few weeks ago, dismayed at the fact I'd still never met someone else called Florrie, I googled the history of the name. And, what did I learn? I learnt that the name 'Florrie' peaked in popularity in the 1890s. My name is ancient. Moving on from my name, I should probably talk about my likes to prepare you for what is to come on this blog. My likes include... Dogs Since a very young age, I havebeen a huge admirer of the canine-kind. Whether they're tall or small, curly or straight, the odds of me wanting to take home a dog are pretty high (with the exception of the dogs that take a disliking to my dog, obviously). Four...
